"O Sal da Terra", sobre um novo projeto do fotógrafo Sebastião Salgado (em que se dedica a fotografar territórios virgens e suas grandes paisagens) está entre os indicados. Juliano Ribeiro Salgado, filho do fotógrafo, assina a direção ao lado do cineasta alemão Wim Wenders.
Os indicados serão anunciados no dia 15 de janeiro. A cerimônia do Oscar será no dia 22 de fevereiro de 2015.
